Alta Lodge offers guests the classic ski vacation – reminiscent of the days when ski accommodations offered more than just a place to stay. The atmosphere is relaxed, intimate and informal. Guests make themselves at home in front of the lobby fireplace with the New York Times, have afternoon tea from 3:30 - 5 pm or unwind in the Sitzmark Bar, a private club for members and Alta Lodge guests.
Breakfast and a four-course dinner are included with overnight lodging. Guests can enjoy the tradition of group dining or dine at a private table. A full service ski shop is adjacent to the lodge. Rooms range from corner rooms with a fireplace and balcony to dormitory rooms. Rates range from $108 to $555 per room and include full breakfast and four course dinner.
Specialty ski camps for powder skiing, women’s skiing and backcountry skiing are run through the lodge in December, January and April. During low season, two kids ages 18 & under stay for free in their parents’ room. A free Kids’ Program is available at the Lodge for parents with small children.
Opened in 1939 by the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad as Alta's first ski lodge, the Lodge has been owned and and operated by the Levitt family since 1959. The Lodge is located at 8,600 feet (2,620 meters) at the base of the Alta Ski Area – just 32 miles (52 km) from the Salt Lake International Airport
