Arches National Park - ATV - Jeep - Offroad

Colorado River Rafting
Colorado River Rafting

Arches National Park is not particularly great for 4-wheel drive enthusiasts, but it does offer a few routes.

For a wider range of options please check out Canyonlands National Park and Moab sections.

Select 4WD Guides & Outfitters for a list of companies that lead jeep or ATV trips or rent offroad vehicles.

Eye of the Whale Beginner
14 miles oneway 1 hour
The Eye of the Whale road runs about 9 miles from the Klondike Bluffs area of the park to the main scenic drive near Balanced Rock. It is a relatively easy 4wd route passing through high-desert terrain. About 7 miles along the road on the right side, Eye of the Whale Arch is visible to the south.

Klondike Bluffs Beginner
10.7 miles oneway 2 hours
To get to the seldom visited Klondike Bluffs area of the park, take the all dirt Salt Valley Road. It is navigable by cars in dry weather, but not recommended if rain threatens. After 7.7 miles are two roads leading into the Klondike Bluffs area. The first is for 4wd drive vehicles. It runs about three miles past fins and spires to near Tower Arch.

Willow Flats Beginner
9 miles oneway 1 - 2 hours
Willow Flats Road is an easy 4wd route that runs from the park's main scenic drive near Balanced Rock west and out of the park where it meets Hwy 191. The route passes no arches, just expansive vistas.
