Guided Van Tours
Guided Van Tours

Your hiking options for Arches are listed below. Most are short day hikes to the magnificent arches in the park.

An interactive DVD with awesome trail videos and complete park information is available. This is a great way to "see" the park before you arrive and plan your visit. Click here to request your DVD now.

There are also some longer hikes listed below, but if you desire more overnight opportunities you should check out Canyonlands National Park Hiking.

Select Hiking Guides & Outfitters for a list of companies that lead trips and/or rent equipment in the Arches National Park area.

Balanced Rock Trail Easy
.3 mile loop 1/2 hour
A giant boulder balances atop a 73 foot pedestal, but just barely. Or so it seems. There is an easy .5 mile long looped trail around it.

Delicate Arch Trail Intermediate
3 mile roundtrip 2 hours
Delicate Arch is a extraordinarily beautiful and graceful structure. It is a must see. The trail to the arch is fabulously designed to keep Delicate Arch from view until the last moment.

Delicate Arch Viewpoint Trail Easy
1/2 mile roundtrip 30 mins.
Delicate Arch Viewpoint Trail is a short, somewhat steep trail providing a distant view of splendid Delicate Arch. There is also a 100 yard paved trail that provides a more distant view of the arch. (Neither of these should be confused with the longer trail that leads all the way up to the arch.)

Devils Garden Trail Easy
7.6 miles (loop) 4 1/4 hours
If the strange and wonderful rock formations of southern Utah interest you, you will love this hike. Devils Garden contains eight of the best known sandstone arches in Arches National Park, including Landscape Arch, the park's longest span.

Double Arch Trail Easy
.8 mile roundtrip 1/2 to 1 hour
Double Arch is an impressive pair of connected arches -- one 144 feet wide and 112 feet tall, the other 61 by 86 feet. An easy trail through loose sand takes you to its base.

Double O Arch Trail Intermediate
4.2 mile roundtrip 2 to 3 hours
The trail that leads to Landscape Arch continues another 1.3 miles to Double O Arch. It has two oval shaped openings, 45 by 71 feet and 9 by 21 feet. Along the trail to Double O Arch are several smaller arches.

Fiery Furnace Hiking Area Intermediate
2 miles 1-1/2 hours
The Fiery Furnace is a maze of narrow canyons created by tall, red sandstone fins. There is a pull-off view of the area, but to really experience its beauty, a hike through is highly recommended. Hiking through the narrow canyons is so confusing, hikers must either join one of the twice daily ranger led hikes or obtain a permit for a small fee to enter the area.

Landscape Arch Trail Easy
1.6 mile roundtrip 1 hour
With a span of 306 feet and a height of 106 feet, Landscape Arch is the largest arch in the park (and the largest or second largest in the world, depending on how it's measured). Landscape Arch is an easy .8 mile hike from the trailhead, with some elevation gain.

Lower Courthouse Wash Trail 5 miles oneway 3 hours
Courthouse Wash is a short, but very pretty canyon near the entrance to Arches National Park. You won’t see any arches in Courthouse but it is, nevertheless, a pleasant half-day walk.

Lower Salt Wash Trail 13.5 mile roundtrip 6 to 8 hours
The lower portion of the Salt Wash is a tough, hot demanding hike from Wolfe Ranch to the Colorado River at the edge of the park. You'll travel through one the most remote areas of the park as the serpentine, rock strewn canyon gradually deepens until its walls tower 1,200 feet overhead.

Park Avenue Trail Easy
1 mile oneway 1/2 hour
Park Avenue is so named for its towering sandstone fins that rise 150-300 feet and present nature's version of a skyscraper lined city street. Park Avenue Trail leads through Park Avenue providing a perspective from beneath the "buildings."

Primitive Loop from Double O to Landscape Arch Difficult
2.2 miles oneway 1 to 1-1/2 hours
There are two ways to return to the trailhead from Double O Arch. You can simply retrace your steps to the trailhead (2 miles) or follow a difficult "primitive" trail through Fin Canyon that loops back to Landscape Arch.

Sand Dune Arch / Broken Arch Trail Easy
1.25 mile roundtrip 1/2 hour
Sand Dune Arch, located about.3 miles from the trailhead through a narrow canyon, is a small arch (8 by 30 feet) lying adjacent to a pink sand dune. It's a good trail for kids. Broken Arch is located about .4 miles further along on an easy open grassland trail.

Skyline Arch Trail Easy
.4 mile roundtrip 1/2 hour
The 45 by 69 foot Skyline Arch is visible from a pull-off along the main scenic drive. A moderately easy trail takes you to its base.

Tower Arch Trail Easy
2.5 mile roundtrip 1-1/2 hours
This easy hike runs through the Klondike Bluffs area in the far northwest portion of the park to large Tower Arch (34' by 92'). Along the way you'll pass the "Marching Men," a series of eroded sandstone figures.

Upper Salt Wash Trail Difficult
8.3 miles oneway 4 to 6 hours
This trail runs through Clover Canyon to the Upper Salt Wash and then down along the wash to Wolfe Ranch. You'll need to fight through some thickets and navigate steep slickrock sections on this backcountry route.

Windows Trail Easy
1 mile loop 1/2 to 1 hour
Turret Arch, North Window and South Window are located along the relatively easy Windows Trail.
