Glen Canyon National Recreation Area Glen Canyon National Recreation Area encompasses Lake Powell -- a vast body of deep blue water contained within orange-red cliff walls. It offers excellent opportunities for fishing, and in summer when water temperatures climb to a comfortable 70-80 degrees, swimming and water skiing. It is extremely popular with houseboaters.

Goulding’s Trading Post Museum Opened in 1989, the museum is both a showcase of varied artifacts and a glimpse into a bygone era. Goulding’s Lodge is not just a famous locale for Old West movies, but is also steeped in a rich history of trading, tourism, and culture as well. The museum is open to all visitors, whether staying at Goulding’s or not. Admission is on a donation basis which provide college scholarships for local students.

High Country Adventure - Tubing Float down the river on our heavy-duty tubes, covered with a protective nylon and handles. Must be 14 years or older or 5'5". Inflatable kayaks or Rafts are recommended for kids under 14 with an adult or if you're over 275 lbs. Wetsuits and booties are available to rent and are strongly recommended in May and June.

Around 1200 A.D. the Anasazi Indians established six communities in the area that is now Hovenweep National Monument. A severe drought that commenced in 1274 likely caused their desertion of the area shortly thereafter. Left are remnants of the impressive masonry buildings they constructed during their stay.
