Cafe Pierpont

Loud conversation and colorful streamers make this one of SLC's most festive restaurants. Bright southwestern colors and patterns abound; multi-colored streamers twirl from overhead ceiling fans. Due to the loud buzz and large space this restaurant is known for, it's a great place for kids -- no one will notice if they're being noisy. And parents can relax with a cool margarita.

The menu is large, appealing both to those who want some meaty Mexican food like carnitas as well as lighter, less traditional food like seafood pasta.

The put-together-yourself mahi-mahi tacos with corn tortillas, mango salsa, cilantro, pico de gallo, onions, Baja rice and fresh veggies is light and refreshing. The fiesta grande early bird special (4-7pm) offers a pork tamale, two beef tacos, two cheese enchiladas, two mini tostadas, one mini chicken chimichanga, beans and rice for only $9.99. If you really want to go all out, order the Patron Cadillac Margarita -- their best tequila in a margarita along with a half shot of Grand Marnier.
