Cathedral Valley Road

Cathedral Valley Road Cathedral Valley Scenic Backway offers spectacular views of the little-traveled northern section of Capitol Reef National Park. The dirt road goes past Cathedral Valley, the Temple of the Sun, the Temple of the Moon, and Cainville Wash.

Location: Runs through the northern section of Capitol Reef National Park from Hwy 24 to I-70

Vehicle: High Clearance Vehicle
Length: 56 miles oneway
Time to Allow: 6 - 8 hours
Season: May be impassable in winter; check at Visitor Center


 Some More Things to Know

For safety purposes, you should always check-in at the Vistor's Center to let them know you'll be driving the route. Cell phones are generally unusable, and especially in the off-season, other vehicles may be few and far between.
