There are a couple of pretty scenic drives in the Cedar City area. They are listed below.




Brian Head-Panguitch Lake Scenic Byway 55 miles oneway 1-1/2 to 2 hours
Brian Head/Panguitch Lake Scenic Byway climbs from the town of Parawon steeply through forests of pine and aspen to the resort town of Brian Head. At mile 16, the route reaches it summit of 11,000 feet in the shadow of Brian Head Peak. It continues through alternating heavy timberland and large grassy meadows as it gradually descends the remaining 23 miles to Hwy 89, passing large Panguitch Lake on the way.


Brian Head-Panguitch Lake Scenic Byway (U-143) 55 miles (88 km) 2 hours to drive the byway.


Cedar Breaks Scenic Byway 6 miles oneway 30 minutes
Cedar Breaks Scenic Byway runs through the park for about 6 miles to four overlooks that provide different good views of Cedar Breaks.


Dry Lakes/Summit Canyon 19 miles oneway 1 hour


Kolob Fingers Road Scenic Byway 10 mile roundtrip 1 hour
Twisting Kolob Canyon Road climbs 1000 feet in just 5 miles to a pleasant picnic area and great lookout over the finger canyons of the Kolob. Along the way are some nice pull-offs and access to a few trails.


Kolob Reservoir Road 45 miles (72 km) With photo stops this backway takes about two hours to travel.


Markaguant High Plateau Scenic Byway (U-14) 40 miles (64 km) 1 hour


Markaguant Scenic Byway 40 miles oneway 1 hour
Markagunt Scenic Byway climbs from Cedar City through a beautiful canyon to a summit of 9,900 feet just south of Cedar Breaks National Monument. Majestic rock canyon walls and heavy forests of pine and aspen line the route.


Mt. Carmel Scenic Byway 60 miles (96 km)
