Colorado River Rafting
Colorado River Rafting

Listed below is information on various segments of the Colorado River you might consider for whitewater rafting, canoeing or kayaking.

Select Whitewater Rafting Guides & Outfitters for companies that offer whitewater rafting, kayaking or canoeing trips.

Colorado River - Cataract Canyon Up to Class V
2-3 days
Located deep within the remote, rugged scenic splendor of Canyonlands National Park and Glen Canyon National Recreation Area is Cataract Canyon. Cateract Canyon contains some of the best whitewater in the country, especially during spring run-off. The so-called "graveyard of the Colorado" has 26 substantial rapids from Class 3 to 4+.

Colorado River - Hittle Bottom to Take-Out Beach Up to Class III
1/2 to 1 day
This segment of the Colorado River, nicknamed the "Colorado River Daily," is an easy whitewater section. It is the most popular section of the river as it is easily accessible from Moab and flows through beautiful canyon scenery.

Colorado River - Hwy. 191 to Potash Class I
1/2 to 1 day
This section of the river is similar to the "Take-Out Beach to Hwy 191" section, but it is less popular so you'll likely have the river more to yourself. Scenery is impressive high canyon walls.

Colorado River - Potash to Confluence Class I
2-3 days
Past Potash the Colorado River leaves the highway, meanders past Dead Horse Point State Park 2,000 feet above and enters Canyonlands National Park. The high canyon walls continue to provide a marvelous backdrop but you'll experience more solitude being away from the highway and further from Moab.

Colorado River - Takeout Beach to Hwy. 191 Class I
4-5 hours

Colorado River - Westwater Canyon Up to Class IV
1 - 2 days
Rafting through the Westwater Canyon section of the Colorado River offers great variety. From thrilling rapid traverses to calm, lazy drifting; from narrow canyon walls to scenic open expanses, Westwater trips have quite a bit to offer.
