Presented below are all of your hiking options within Zion National Park. They are grouped by area. All are worthwhile, but the easy trail to Emerald Pool is especially pretty and the more difficult hike up West Rim Trail to Angels Landing provides the best views. Canyon Overlook Trail Intermediate
1 mi. roundtrip 3/4 hour
This trail is accessed off Hwy 9 east of Zion Canyon. It winds along the top of Pine Creek Canyon to a lookout with fine panoramas over lower Zion Canyon.

Emerald Pool Trails Intermediate
2.5 mile loop w/spur 2-1/2 hours
The network of trails to lower, middle and upper Emerald Pools are most rewarding. Lower Emerald Pool is surrounded by hanging gardens of fern, moss and monkeyflower and fed by three small waterfalls that run off Middle Emerald Pool 50 feet above. The trail climbs up and around to Middle Emerald Pool and then an additional 220 feet to Upper Emerald Pool, a beautiful small pool with a white sand beach.

Hidden Canyon Trail Intermediate
2 mi. roundtrip 1-1/2 hours
Hidden Canyon Trail climbs the east side of the canyon to an interesting narrow canyon. The mile long canyon is no more 60 feet wide at most points and contains some small caves and a natural arch.

Hop Valley to Kolob Arch Difficult
14 mile roundtrip Day 1: 6 3/4 hours
ay 2: 4 1/2 hours
Hop Valley Trail runs along a valley enclosed by sandstone knolls. Along the way is wonderful Hop Valley itself, a very flat grassy valley sitting beneath 600 foot cliff walls. The Hop Valley Trail ends at La Verkin Creek Trail, but you'll want to go another mile to see Kolob Arch.

Kolob Arch to Willis Creek Intermediate
22 mile roundtrip 2-3 days
One of the best backpacking trips in the park is La Verkin Creek trail to Kolob Arch. You can extend this trip by continuing on La Verkin Creek trail past the side trail to Kolob Arch another 5 miles to Willis Creek.

La Verkin Creek Trail to Kolob Arch Intermediate
14 mile roundtrip 6 to 8 hours
This is one of the best backpacking trips in the park. It runs along pleasant perennial streams amidst heavy tree growth beneath towering cliffs.

Observation Point Trail Difficult
7.4 mi. roundtrip 4 hours
Observation Point Trail branches off of Hidden Canyon Trail at the .6 mile mark. The trail is a narrow paved catwalk cut into the steep Echo Canyon wall for a portion. All along are great views, but the final panoramic view out over Zion Canyon is fantastic.

Pa'rus Trail Easy
3.5 mi. roundtrip 1-1/2 hours
The Pa'rus Trail is a paved path that runs along the Virgin River between South Campground and the beginning of the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive. The path is open to bikes.

Riverside Walk Easy
2 mi. roundtrip 3/4 hour
This mostly flat paved trail follows the Virgin River up through the ever narrowing canyon to the point where the canyon is only as wide as the river. Along the way water seeping from canyon walls provides nourishment for heavy plant growth.

Sand Bench Trail Easy
3.6 mile loop 2-1/2 hours
This looped trail climbs the west side of the canyon for good views of several named features of the park, including the Three Patriarchs and the Streaked Wall.

Taylor Creek Trail Intermediate
5.5 mile roundtrip 3 hours
This trail follows the middle fork of the Taylor Creek up canyon to Double Arch Alcove. The canyon is deep, tree-lined and exceptionally beautiful. You'll pass a few old homestead cabins and wildflowers in season.

Watchman Trail Easy
2.4 mi. roundtrip 1-1/2 hours
The trail climbs up Watchman Peak to a good views over lower Zion Canyon and the town of Springdale.

Weeping Rock Trail Easy
.5 mi. roundtrip 1/2 hour
This paved trail climbs through lush vegetation to a series of springs that flow from a cliff wall. Wildflowers adorn the walls in spring and summer.

West Rim Trail Difficult
13.8 mile oneway 1 day
This is one of the more popular backpacking trips in the park. It is best done with a car shuttle and started from Lava Point, from which it is all downhill. The trail passes through nice pine forests with views of all manner of cliffs and canyons. It ends with a descent into marvelous Zion Canyon.

West Rim Trail to Angels Landing Difficult
4.5 mile oneway 4 hours
The hike up West Rim Trail to Scout Lookout and on to Angels Landing provides some of the best views of Zion Canyon. The climb to Scout Lookout and its fine view over Zion Canyon is paved and well graded. At Scout's Landing, the trail ventures out a narrow peninsula with sheer drops of over 2,000 feet. It ends at Angels Landing and extraordinary views of Zion Canyon.

West Rim Trail to Lava Point Difficult
13.3 mile oneway 1 day

West Rim Trail to West Rim Viewpoint Difficult
13.5 mile roundtrip 1 day

Wildcat Canyon Trail Intermediate
8.5 mile oneway 4 to 5 hours
This trip is best done with a shuttle and started at Lava Point. The trail runs through pleasant scenic forests of pine and meadows surrounded by oak. A branch trial to Northgate Peak Overlook provides great views of the huge dome of North Guardian Angel and the maze of canyons that surround it.

Zion Narrows Difficult
17.3 miles (plus 38 miles by car) Day 1: 6 1/2 hours
Day 2: 6 hours
This is probably the best known hike in Utah. The watery North Fork Virgin River Canyon offers a welcome respite from Southern Utah’s hot summer weather, and the scenery within the canyon is truly spectacular.
