Fascinating Dinosaur Museum
Fascinating Dinosaur Museum

As more fully decribed on the Dinosaur "Exploring" Page, the park has a couple areas with established hiking trails. These are listed below.

There are also huge areas in the park with no designated trails but which adventurous hikers may wish to pursue.



Cold Desert Trail Easy
1 mile roundtrip 30 mins.
This easy walk introduces the flora and fauna of the area.

Desert Voices Easy
1.5 mile loop 1 hour
The Desert Voices Loop Trail begins opposite the entrance to Split Mountain Campground and makes a loop through lower portions of the Split Mountains. It has trail signs made by kids for kids.

Dry Fork Flume Trail Easy

Up to 24 miles Can be a day hike
The Dry Fork Flume and the Flume Mill Site were both accessed by wagon road once up on a time and if the town that was to be built here never took off, the road remains, an excellent place for both hikers and bikers.

Gates of Lodore Trail Easy
1.5 mile roundtrip 1 hour
This easy walk takes you along the river to some great views of the gorge carved by the Green River.

Harper Corners Trail Intermediate
3 mile roundtrip 1 - 2 hours
Harper Corners Trail takes you out onto a narrow peninsula with stunningly dramatic views out over the Green and Yampa rivers and the massive canyons they have carved.

Jones Hole Easy
8.0 mile roundtrip 4 3/4 hours
Jones Hole is the name given to a 2,000-foot-deep gorge that runs along the border between Utah and Colorado in Dinosaur National Monument.

Outlaw Trail Intermediate
5 miles 1-2 hours
Browns Park is one of the best places to experience the rich shores of the Green River and Outlaw Trail is one of the best river trails. Expect to see osprey, otter and moose as you walk.

Plug Hat Trail Easy
1/2 mile roundtrip 30 mins.
This easy hike runs through pinion pine and juniper and offers some good views of the surrounding landscape.

Sound of Silence Intermediate
3 mile loop 1 to 2 hours
The Sound of Silence nature trail loop begins 2 miles past the quarry in Dinosaur National Monument. It climbs up a wash to some fine panoramas of the area and descends over slickrock.
