A modest handful of high-rise buildings lends man-made shape to Salt Lake City's skyline, the mountains behind hinting at the outdoors-oriented haven this flourishing urban center really is behind the show of church and state.
The Grand View Point Overlook provides the most impressive view in the entire park, and one of the best views in the state. An amazing expanse of orange-red canyons stretch out below for as far as you can see. At the overlook is a popular and easy trail (2 mile round trip) with equally wonderful views of the expansive canyon country.
