Great Salt Lake

Great Salt Lake

While the Great Salt Lake is one of the most famous features in Utah, it isn't necessarily a popular tourist attraction. Due to its high salt content, powerboats and speedboats are rarely seen on the lake. If you decide to brave the waters, make sure your motor is rated for saltwater or properly flushed afterwards. However, kayakers can explore the shoreline and sailors will enjoy drifting along the lake with views of the Wasatch and Oquirrh Mountains surrounding them. Marinas are located at both Antelope Island and Great Salt Lake State Parks.

Swimmers will find sandy beaches at Antelope State Park and facilities for rinsing off the saltwater. But anglers are out of luck; no fish swim in these salty waters.
