The new Natural History Museum of Utah at the Rio Tinto Center is a treasure trove of fascinating artifacts, jaw-dropping dinosaurs, amazing science, and stories of living history. You’ll marvel at this architectural wonder where science is alive, accessible, entertaining and simply awe-inspiring.

Journey to the top of a three-story indoor canyon. Wander through Utah’s very own dinosaurs. Interact with earthquakes, erosion, Lake Bonneville and more. Hear stories of Utah’s native peoples, past and present. Step outside onto our observatory deck. Hike the Shoreline trail. And experience history, as only Utah can reveal it. Open Daily 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. -- Last Admission is 4:00 p.m.

Open Wednesdays 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. -- Last Admission is 8:00 p.m.

Basic Directions

From the North:

Take I-15 South
Exit 307 for 400 South Exit -- Turn Left onto 400 South
Continue toward the University of Utah campus as 400 South turns into 500 South and then to Foothill Drive (UT-186)
Turn left at Wakara Way -- The Museum will be visible at the top of the road in front of you.
Continue up Wakara Way to the Museum.

From the South:

Take I-15 North
Exit 304 to merge onto I-80 East toward Cheyenne
Exit 129 for Foothill Drive (UT-186) toward Parleys Way
Continue straight onto Foothill Drive
Past Sunnyside Drive, turn right onto Wakara Way -- The Museum will be visible at the top of the road in front of you.
Continue up Wakara Way to the Museum.
