Nine Mile Ranch

Nine Mile Ranch Welcome to Ben and Myrna's Nine Mile Ranch -- the only guest ranch and campground in Nine Mile Canyon. Our ranch consists of 1,000 acres of rugged mountains, with a beautiful cottonwood-lined creek winding through lush green fields. It is not unusual to see deer, elk, coyotes, wild turkeys and other wildlife as you take your early morning hike. The elevation at the ranch house is about 6,700 feet, so expect refreshingly cool summer evenings.

Stay at the Nine Mile Guest Ranch Campground, or in a rustic one-room cabin like the pioneers. We also have "Bunk N Breakfast" rooms for families or singles, and an Indian teepee that sleeps 8 as well. We have hot showers and limited electricity. You can mostly expect an authentic Western experience here among the farm animals.

Campfire songs, cowboy poetry and Dutch oven cooking are all part what make the Nine Mile Ranch bunk 'n breakfast unique. Situated in the mouth of historic Nine Mile Canyon, "the ranch is a perfect place to get away from the busy world," explained owner Myrna Mead.

Open year round, the ranch offers lodging, campsites, a camping supply store and entertainment. Eighteen campground sites and bathrooms with showers along with rooms in the bed & breakfast give the ranch versatile ways to serve any guest's needs. There is even an Indian teepee that guests can rent to sleep in.

 Some More Things to Know

Nine Mile Canyon's rock art has been featured in National Geographic and many other publications because of its beauty and intensity. Over 1,000 sites have been catalogued to date. Large panels of rock art can be found just a few feet from the road. Travelers can wonder at the meaning of the carvings. Foreboding desert mountains, cactus and brush-filled dunes and peaks surround Nine Mile Canyon. The Native Americans, farmers, outlaws and ranchers who dared to live in this canyon have fought every ugly element known to Mother Nature. Only the toughest humans that have lived amid these rocky walls have survived.
