13.2 miles (round trip) Day 1: 5 hours

Mount Nebo, the centerpiece of the Mount Nebo Wilderness Area, is the highest peak in the Wasatch Mountains. As one might expect, the views from its summits are spectacular, but it is also one of the most strenuous hikes in Utah.

Mount Nebo (South Peak) via Andres Ridge Difficult

12.9 miles (plus 5.3 miles by car) Day 1: 6 3/4 hours
Day 2: 4 1/2 hours
Mount Timpanogos has, for most of this century, been the most popular mountain climbing destination in Utah. The majestic mountain, second highest in the Wasatch Mountains, seems to have everything-an alpine lake just below the summit, a small glacier, waterfalls along the trail, high alpine meadows and wildflowers, even a herd of about 200 mountain goats that were introduced in 1981.

Pfiefferhorn from Dry Creek Difficult

Red Lake Trail Easy
3.2 mile roundtrip 2 hours
This pleasant, easy trail climbs from near Maple Lake up to Red Lake, a good picnic spot.

Santaquin Peak Intermediate
11.4 miles (round trip) 8 hours
Although many peaks along the Wasatch Front are considerably higher than Santaquin Peak, few of the area’s hikes are more scenic than this one. The trail is especially beautiful in the fall, as it passes through numerous groves of maple and aspen on its way to Loafer Ridge.

Silver Glance Lake from Silver Flat Intermediate

Silver Lake Overlook from Deer Creek Trail Intermediate
7 mile roundtrip 4 to 4-1/2 hours

Spanish Fork Peak via Maple Canyon Difficult
