Mountain biking mecca and top retreat for outdoor enthusiasts, the town of Moab might be small but the surrounding landscape is unarguably substantial.
Skyline Trail is a wonderful and challenging single track featuring some long climbs and some great views. You can tackle it all or take one of the three segments identified above. Beginning at the Pineview Reservoir, the trail (signed as ""the Great Western Trail"") climbs unremittingly for several miles to that branch takes you left 2.5 miles to Lewis Peak and its incomparable views west over Ogden and the Great Salt Lake. After returning to the main route, you'll begin a nice long descent to North Ogden Pass. After North Ogden Pass the route climbs steeply to the Base of Ben Lomond. Unless you're an expert, think of walking to the summit (1,000' gain). After Ben Lomond is a wild descent down North Fork Trail.
