Smithsonian Butte National Back Country Byway

Smithsonian Butte National Back Country Byway travels for 9 miles between Rockville and UT-59 in southwestern Utah. Smithsonian Butte was named John Wesley Powell, a famous explorer.

As the route winds above the Valley of the Virgin River, you'll see Zion Canyon, Canaan Mountain, the Vermillion Cliffs, and Zion National Park just four miles west. As you reach the highest points, Zion's fiery landscaping, filled with buttes and temples, lays in panoramic glory at your feet.

The Siskiyou is the most floristically diverse National Forest in the country.

Six Rivers National Forest (CA)

The forest is best known for its valued timber, dispersed recreation, and outstanding anadromous fishing. Whitewater rafting and kayaking provide visitors with exciting water recreation opportunities.
