Spanish Bottom Trail

Spanish Bottom Trail descends steeply 1.2 miles to the bank of the Colorado River at Spanish Bottom. A narrow trail there leads downstream along the river about 1 mile to the first of a series of rapids in Cataract Canyon.

Location: In the Maze District of Canyonlands National Park
Difficulty: Intermediate
Length: 4.5 mile roundtrip
Time to Allow: 2 to 3 hours
Camping Info: Dispersed camping allowed
Season: Year round, but best Apr.-May and Sep.-Oct.
