Pro-tec IPS Hip Pads - Men's description

Whether you're learning a McTwist or negotiating the bunny slope, pushing your snowboarding skills to the next level shouldn't mean not being able to sit down for a week. The low-profile Protec Men's IPS Hip Pads provide extra protection, without announcing it to the world. You'll barely notice this stretch-fit, slim, protective shortuntil you catch a heelside edge or land on your butt from ten feet up. Protec made the IPS Hip Pads out of a breathable, stretchy nylon fabric for all day comfort and strategically placed them over the tail bone and hips for protection.

SAVED MY ASS
Bottswana:

I love these hip pads and recommend them to all of my friends. I board on an active volcano, Mt. Etna in Sicily, with exposed lava rock on the runs. These pads have saved my ass more than once.

Terrible
bs1080:

These pads offer very little protection--the foam is super soft and there are no hard plates. I broke my tailbone wearing these on not even that bad of a fall; they are warm and comfy but that's about it.

if you like your tailbone, don't buy these

I figured for $50 I might as well not be sore from falling on my butt the next day. First day wearing them I only fell once and it was at a standstill just before heading down. Some random girl knocked into my board and I fell flat on my butt. The pads did absolutely nothing. When I got home I checked them out more carefully than before I had bought them. The foam is super low-density (easy to squish) and did absolutely nothing for me. Now I'm out $50 and I'm stuck on the couch cause my butt hurts too much to ride :(
