Thule Criterium description The Thule Criterium bike carrier will save you substantial amounts of fumbling time getting your bike onto the roof. The clamp adjustment dial is down at roof level, since most of us aren't 8 feet tall, and the rubberized clamp will baby your bike's frame. When you reach your destination, Thule has equipped the Criterium with a single button release for the clamp, so you can hit the button, grab your bike and hit the trail. The Criterium is also high security, with a double locking system for bike and rack that uses two cylinders to give you added piece of mind when you have to leave the car. |
lost bike
UJ:
We lost my wife's bike on the passenger side of the vehicle. This rack allows the front wheel to rattle side to side violently when passing a trucks. Before we noticed on a 1800 mile road trip, the Front wheel strap shattered and allowed the bike to fall over, release from the frame clamp and scraped down the side of my vehicle before the rear wheel strap broke. All in a matter of seconds, the bike then fell to the pavement (highway) and was a total loss. Not to mention the highway danger. Don't buy this rack.
extremely convenient, beautiful design!
gtwdesigns:
I loved my Crierium so much, I bought a 2nd one immediately! It's so easy to mount and dismount a bike from it. Holds the bike securely. One key to lock bike to carrier and carrier to car.
Garbage
BayAreaRider:
As promised, this is easy to load. And that's nice. Who wants to deal with taking off the front wheel if you don't have to? The bike is unstable on top. The arm combined with the two straps is not nearly the same thing as clinching the front fork directly onto a rack. It is very easy for thieves to break, as we discovered when leaving the bike on top of our car in the middle of the day in Chicago downtown. True, any bike rack can be foiled without tremendous effort, but it looked like this took a casual, but expert, passerby all of about 10 seconds.
