I've been on one trip with the foon so far... the only trouble I really have with it is clicking the utensil portion in place and then getting it to retract. The mechanism works just fine, but sometimes I hurt my fingers trying to retract it. Cleans like a dream, though! Overall, I would recommend it.
Great idea, poor execution

I really wanted to like these little guys. I purchased 4 of them. Maybe the food I was eating was too solid for such a lightly constructed utensil. The tongs on the first foon bent. It seemed quite flimsy, especially where it telescopes out and locks into place. I resorted to using traditional plastic cutlery and felt safer doing so.I purchased this mainly for its compact size. I guess I should have looked into something more rugged and durable even though it may have taken up more room in my pack. If you choose to go with this utensil, stick with softer foods.
