Instead of attempting to add up the miles between cities on your map, pull out your handy-dandy Kasper & Richter Online 1 Digital Map Measurer. This digital map measurer for road maps attaches to your key ring and includes a mini flashlight as well as a mini compass on its back. In addition to determining the distance between map points, the Kasper & Richter's Online 1's included clock, thermometer, and calculator: tell the time in your current time zone and the temp in Celsius or Fahrenheit, and determine how much tip you should leave at the roadside diner. Scale range from 1:100 to 1:99,999,999.

Bottom Line: Too bad this map measurer can't tell you where to find a gas station in the boondocks before you hit empty.

While this device is pretty handy, and it does what it says, it has some serious flaws: First, the instruction sheet is printed in 8-point micro-font, most easily readable in full sunlight, with a magnifying glass (Be careful not to set it on fire!). Second, the scale is settable only in the format of 1:xxx... This is fine for topo maps that have that scale printed on them, but useless for those civilian maps that just have a graphical scale on them (Unless you have a math degree.). If you need something like this, go ahead and spend the big bucks on a better one (Suck it up, Buttercup!)
