I am new to trekking poles and chose these based on the reviews. So far they seem fine, although I will never use the flik lock since the bottom section makes the pole just short enough for me. However, even with the tip protector the pole makes a sound each time it hits rock / pavement. Probably better than without.

I bought the Trekking Pole Tip Protector to go with the Black Diamond pole I just got. The tip protector worked great when I went hiking in the Grand Canyon to the Havasu village at the bottom. It showed some wear at the end of the trip but overall it is a great piece of equipment especially for its price.
