Black Diamond Ion Headlamp - Assorted Colors description Black Diamond created the Ion Headlamp for backpackers and climbers who want a just-in-case light source for all-day outings and anyone else who likes to pack light. | Bottom Line: Go light with your lighting. Go with the Black Diamond Ion Headlamp. |
Super light
akrocket:
its extremely light weight, stays on your head surprisingly well for not having an over the head strap(i can run with it) on the down side it does not give out a ton of light, and it uses a 9v camera battery.
good back up light
gar2493666:
this light works great as a back up light because of its size and relative brightness. however, i got greedy and tried to use it as my main light and it ran out of juice really fast.
A minimalist light
EGUSTing:
This is a good lightweight headlamp for early morning runs or MTB rides, but you won't be able to see too far down the trail. The two LEDs put out an adequate amount of light, but nothing spectacular. This is a light I'll keep in my pack in case of emergencies due to its minuscule size. However, for a light that works in a wider array of environments, I'm upgrading to the Petzl TacTikka Plus. If you can get this light for under $10, then go for it...otherwise, I would go with something else.
Mighty Mouse
Barrett Wood:
I love this little headlamp. It replaced my Princeton Tec that I had for 4 years. The Ion is infinitely lighter and more compact. It stays on my head even when I'm running and the dual brightness settings is a nice touch. It sends plenty of light down the trail so you're not tripping on roots and rocks during a pre-dawn ascent. Get it as a backup if nothing else.
