Black Diamond RPM Backpack - 1465-1587cu in description The Black Diamond RPM Backpack's 20oz weight and low-profile design make it a great choice for ultralight day hikes and trad routes when you need to lead with a pack. This pack makes a great pick for both rock and alpine climbing, and Outside Magazine even called it the best everyday pack for 2007. The RPM holds your approach shoes, water bottle, and extra fleece while you run out another pitch to the belay. Black Diamond made this tiny 1587cu inch pack with 210D nylon to help it achieve its low weight and make it compressible enough to use as a stuff sack on longer trips. | Bottom Line: The Black Diamond RPM Backpackfor times when you can't quite clip everything to your harness. |
The ultimate ultra-light pack
SpriteMV:
If you like to go ultra-light, the RPM is your pack. Typically, when you go ultra-light you lose many features found in heavier packs. However, this isn't the case with the RPM. The has an exterior compression cord for quickly stowing things to the pack and it doubles in functionality to compress the contents of the pack. The backpack sits very close to your body to minimize its effect on your agility. But beware, while it's good for your balance, the packs narrow profile is not so great for carrying books to class. The pack also has pockets for hydration bladders and water bottles, things that are missing in many similar packs. Also, the material is surprisingly durable for how light it is. If you are looking for a backpack for long hikes or to haul your climbing gear between crags, I've found nothing better than the Black Diamond RPM.
Great Pack!

I bought the RPM for day hikes of all kind, but primarily from a base camp. So far so good! I love the light weight and packable quaility of the pack. It surprisingly packs a lot and is easy to access and feels great on my back! I highly recommend the RPM if your looking for a pack for those trad day hikes or for those spring backcountry days, but also as a day pack for overnight trips.
