CAMP USA Awax Ice Tool description The CAMP Awax Ice Tool brings forth a drastically curved shaft and burly T-rated pick to create supreme performance on really steep ice. With a small circumference grip and impressively light weight (20oz), the Awax Ice Tool is an excellent choice for climbers with small hands or anyone who likes a lightweight tool. Complete with an easy-to-use, ultralight Awax Leash, this ice tool from CAMP is ready to pull down on burly ice and mixed routes. | Bottom Line: If you're looking for a high clearance, ultralight ice tool, look no further than the CAMP Awax. |
holy smokin' ice
lucentsteel:
I took a giant leap from the well-trusted Peztl & BD lines. I wanted to try the light, radical, versatility of what I believed to be a concept tool. Opening day of Ouray 06' gave me the opportunity to punch hundreds of feet of virgin WI4-5. My climbing partners who are equal on rock, bonked towards the end of days. This is due to what I see as a subtle prolonged fatigue established thru those few extra ounces (DURING EVERY SWING) So satisfied with the awax's balance and weight they have becomes my hands in an ever expanding mixed alpine life.
Awesome Tool
Alexander1310:
This tool is amazing. I have climbed on four different tools this season (Black Diamon Prophet, Petzl Quark, Nomic, and Camp Awax), and this tool is the best leashed tool that I have used. This tool is so light compared to any other tool out there. It has an energy efficient swing. It excels on vertical ice. Throw the Camp grip rest horn accessory on the bottom of this tool and your money for leashed or leashless climbing. I thought highly of it for mixed climbing. The Camp sliding leash is annoying when you try to get back in it after taking it out for screw placement. But if you outfit it with a BD Android leash it's all good.
