I recently purchased the boots- broke them in on quite a few short hikes without problems. They don't hold true for long distance- anything over 8-9 miles they beomce extremely uncomfortable and painful. If you want a versatile boot that will go the distance I wouldn't purchase these babies.

Very comfortable shoes - bought them for a hiking/climbing trip in the San Rafael Swell and spent 3 days wandering around the desert in them with no break-in time.

Bought these a couple years ago. Most uncomfortable shoe I've ever worn. Not even comfortable to do yard work in. Very stiff, no movement. Awful.

Doesn't sound like they last very long if you just got them and have worn them out.

I wore these boots all day yesterday while viewing waterfalls and hiking in the mountains in Japan. They are awesome! They supported my feet and ankles perfectly, and I didn't have any problems on pavement, wet trails, or rocks. They were 1000 times more comfortable than wearing regular running shoes, so they were worth the money. At first I wasn't sure whether to get the low-rise hikers (which look a little cuter to me), but I am so happy that I bought the mid-rise....my ankles felt much more secure while hiking. No soreness, blisters, etc. today. I will wear these again and again.This site's shipping is unbelievably fast. I live at an FPO address in Japan, and the quick shipping (not to mention FREE shipping over $50) is much appreciated. Other sites charge a fortune for shipping, and it still takes weeks to get our purchases. Thank you, BC, for such great service!I don't think it's fair to consider the 1-star review that didn't comment on the shoes but rather asked another reviewer about wearing their shoes out twice. Wearing the shoes out twice means that person has literally worn them OUTSIDE twice. I also don't think the 2-star review titled "Deceptive boot" should be considered twice since both reviews state the same opinion. It messes up the rating system when people do this. I'm giving 5 stars and would give more if I could. These boots are great.
