Mountain Hardwear Transition Zip T-Shirt - Women's description The Mountain Hardwear Women's Transition Zip T offers a revolutionary combination of windproofing and breathability to see you comfortably through alpine adventures. Using Gore Windstopper Featherweight fabric, the Transitions serves as a protective mid-layer for backcountry tours and an outer shell for trail running and Nordic skiing. A brushed polyester knit lining keeps you comfortable at all times, and stretch Lycra at the neck, cuffs, and hem seal in warmth. Mountain Hardwear gave this women's windshirt articulated arms for a full range of motion and a deep front zip for climate control. Note that the Transition's outer face may snag against abrasive surfaces like rock faces or tree branches. |
Cannot be worn alone
Patricia Tessier:
The shirt performs well against wind, but cannot be worn alone as described. The seams between the different materials along the sleeves and torso are very noticeable and uncomfortable. Very good as a second layer though.
what i needed, but rough around the edges
trishkap:
I wanted a 1/4 zip that is windproof, and the gearheads pointed this top out. It fits GREAT, and is WINDPROOF!! I like that part, but the black isn't a solid black... kinda a charcoal black or light black... I really can't explain it. Also, as someone else mentioned, you can feel the seams, and that does get a little scratchy. I might start wearing a light tee underneath, so I don't feel it.
Better than Expected!

I'd always worn a lightweight fleece when climbing or hiking in cool or windy conditions. Since buying the Transition Featherweight Zip Tee, I've climbed and hiked four days with temperatures ranging between 37 and 50 degrees and light to moderate breezes. It performed well alone but when the temperature was lower, I added a midweight insulated top. It's an absolutely great product.
