Alexander Basin Trail Intermediate
3.1 miles roundtrip 2 hours
The trail to Alexander Basin climbs a very steep slope before flattening out at a nice view over glacier carved Alexander Basin.

Big Water (to Dog Lake) Easy
4.5 miles roundtrip 2-3 hours
Big Water Trail runs through pleasant forests to a junction with Desolation Trail near popular Dog Lake. The trail is very popular with mountain bikers, though bikes are prohibited on odd numbered days. The trailhead is at the end of the Mill Creek drive.

Bowman Fork Intermediate
8 miles roundtrip 4-5 hours
The trail climbs gradually at first through heavy forest and then more steeply up open slopes and a pleasant gully to Baker Pass overlooking Big Cottonwood Canyon.

Burch Hollow Difficult
2.8 mile oneway 2 hours
The trail ascends a drainage area past wonderful limestone outcroppings to a ridge overlooking Mt. Aire Canyon, an area of private homes. The trail starts from the Pipeline Trail.

Church Fork Peak Intermediate
6.2 miles roundtrip 4 to 4-1/2 hours

Desolation Trail (to Salt Lake Overlook) Intermediate
3.5 miles roundtrip 2 hours

Elbow Fork Easy
5 miles roundtrip 2-3 hours
This relatively flat trail runs parallel to the road at low altitudes. It is well shaded and provides some good views of Mill Creek Canyon.

Grandeur Peak Intermediate
5.6 mile roundtrip 3-4 hours
The well maintained trail leads to Grandeur Peak, one of the more prominent peaks of the Wasatch, and a great view out over the city.

Lambs Canyon Pass from Elbow Fork Easy
3.4 mile roundtrip 2 hours

Little Water (to Dog Lake) Easy
4 miles roundtrip 2-3 hours
Little Water trail runs generally parallel to Big Water Trail to the same junction near Dog Lake. Little Water runs along an old jeep road through open areas and heavy forest.

Mount Aire (from Elbow Fork) Intermediate
3.6 mile roundtrip 2-3 hours
This short trail climbs steeply to a great view out over the range. It is well shaded.

Mt. Raymond from Bowman Fork Difficult
10 mile roundtrip 5 to 6 hours

Neff's Canyon (to Thayne Canyon Pass) Intermediate
8.5 miles roundtrip 2 hours
Neff's Canyon Trail runs along an old jeep road and then climbs into the Mount Olympus Wilderness with some views out over the city.

Pipeline, Rattlesnake to Church Fork Easy
3.1 mile roundtrip 1-1/4 hours

Porter Fork Intermediate
7.4 miles roundtrip 4 hours
The trail climbs steeply up into the Mt. Olympus Wilderness. The first 1-1/2 miles follows a private road past summer homes and then an old jeep road before becoming a foot trail. The trailhead at Porter Fork Road is 4.2 miles up canyon

Thayne's Peak (via Thayne's Canyon) Intermediate
10.6 miles roundtrip 6+ hours

Upper Mill Creek Intermediate
4 mile oneway 3-4 hours
Upper Mill Creek Canyon is part of the Great Western Trail. It climbs to the crest of the Wasatch and then follows it south to an intersection with Desolation Trail near Desolation Lake. A nice loop can be made by returning via Desolation and Big Water trails.
