Abajo Mountains

All of the roads through the
Abajos offer pleasant alpine mountain scenery. Of special
note is South Creek Road to the top of Abajo Peak and its
great views over southeastern Utah. You might also consider
taking Forest Route 095 west from the Abajos to Elk Ridge
and then Forest Route 088 south along the Dark Canyon
Wilderness Area and through the Bear's Ears to Hwy. 95. If
you are traveling between Monticello and the Needles
District of Canyonlands National Park, you can save 15 miles
and get some nice views over the park by taking Hart's Draw
Road down the northern side of the range.
