ARCHES
NATIONAL PARK is a geological wonderland. Set in the high desert of southeastern
Utah, it is home to the largest concentration of sandstone arches in the
world, some 2,000 in all. That the simple actions of erosion over tens
of thousands of years could produce what appear to be purposefully sculpted
formations is endlessly fascinating to behold.
Arches is located on Hwy. 191 about 25 miles south of I-70 and 5 miles northwest of Moab. Canyonlands is located just 27 miles to the southwest.
