Public Campgrounds
The National Forest Service operates a large number of campgrounds in the Wasatch Mountains near Provo. All have drinking water, picnic tables and fire rings or grills. None has RV hook-ups or dump stations. Restrooms do not have sinks and have the toilet types listed below (V = vault; F = flush; MF = mini-flush like an airline toilet). All the campgrounds have some sites available by reservations (800-283-2267) and some sites available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Note that the season indicated can vary significantly depending on weather conditions.

State Park Campgrounds
Utah Lake State Park (801-375-0731)sits along the shore of 250-square mile Utah Lake, a few miles west of Provo. It has a picnic area, swimming beach, campground, a marina and boat ramps. 73 sites; drinking water; modern restrooms w/showers; dump station; elev. 4,500'; open year round; reservations: 800-322-3770; $10-12.
Deer Creek Reservoir State Park (801-654-0171) surrounds large Deer Creek Reservoir and has several boat ramps, picnic areas, swimming beaches, a restaurant, store and modern campground. 35 sites; drinking water; modern restrooms w/showers; dump station; elev. 5,400'; open all year; reservations: 800-322-3770; $11.
