Downhill Skiing and Snowboarding
Sundance Resort offers the only downhill skiing in the area. Sundance is a small facility compared to most of its competitors up north, but it is also less crowded and has a certain rustic charm about it. Its ownership by Robert Redford lends it a certain cache.

Cross-Country Skiing is available.
Sundance Nordic Center at the Sundance Resort grooms 14 kilometers of trails for skating style. The trails are 20% beginner, 40% intermediate and 40% advanced. All-day passes cost $5, half-day passes are $3. Children under 12 and seniors ski free. Lessons and rentals are available as is night skiing. Sundance is located on Hwy 92, 18 miles northeast of Provo.
Hwy 92, a.k.a. the Alpine Loop, west of Sundance is closed during the winter to cars, providing good ungroomed skiing opportunities through attractive alpine scenery. Starting at the road closure at Aspen Grove campground, one can ski 8 miles to American Fork Canyon. A shuttle is necessary unless you have the energy to ski back.
