Steinaker State Park is located just to the west of Hwy. 191, 5-1/2 miles north of Vernal. Its campground sits along the shore of the Steinaker reservoir, partially shaded by juniper and cottonwoods. Its attractive sites are reasonably well spaced. The surrounding park has swimming beaches, a boat ramp and courtesy docks. 31 sites (2 group); modern restrooms; drinking water; disposal station; 5,500'; open year round; reservations advised: 800-322-3770; $9.
The very attractive Red Fleet State Park campground is set on a bluff overlooking the Red Fleet reservoir. Juniper and sage provide partial shade and privacy for some though not all the sites. There is a central parking area with individual sites located a short walk away. The surrounding park has swimming beaches and a boat ramp. To get there from Vernal, take Hwy 191 north for 10 miles, turn left and continue 2 miles to Red Fleet. 29 sites; modern restrooms; drinking water; disposal station; 5,500'; open year round; reservations: 800-322-3770; $9.
