Get that Skeleton Out of the Closet in Park City

Description

Just because you wouldn’t know Bode Miller from a bobsled doesn’t mean you’re completely out of the running when it comes to acting like a medalist in some snow related sport. In fact, though plenty of professional athletes can be observed spraying snow on the skeleton track, slopes and ski jumps of Utah Olympic Park during official competitions or practice sessions, mere mortals can also take a turn. Which is yet another reason to love winter in Park City. I mean, where else can you enjoy a break from the slopes of major ski resorts to take luge lessons?

For parents scheming to get their young ones ready for some future Winter Olympics, the solution is a winter program like FLY Freestyle, which is designed with aerial gymnastics (on skies) in mind. Of course, you need to hang around for a few months to finish this course, but hey, who’s going to complain about spending an entire ski season dusted with the greatest snow on earth? If prior obligations keep you from taking up residence, consider instead a short introductory bobsled or skeleton clinic. Those who whiz through this without mishap can move on to the Advanced Bobsled and Skeleton Driving School. Which might just pave the way for more training in the National Development program. Or you might be scared stiff. Either way, it clearly gives you something to lord over your fellow holiday makers who spent a lion’s share of their Park City vacation riding ski lifts.

If you’re the sort who would rather cheer on the daring acrobatics of more practiced professionals, check out the Utah Olympic Park schedule. There are several competitions that kick off over the course of an average ski season, spectators to the spectacle welcome.
