Utah Ski Resorts – By the Numbers

Description

Why should you choose Utah for your next ski trip? Because the numbers say so. There are fourteen Utah Ski Resorts, 9 of them less than an hour’s drive from Salt Lake International Airport. And that’s just the beginning. Let’s break it down in detail.

Fourteen Utah resorts provide 30, 000 acres of skiable terrain, over 1100 trails, and more than 130 ski lifts. Does that sound like enough? In one resort alone, Powder Mountain, you can explore 7,000 acres—much of it untracked powder. Canyons Resort boasts over 4,000 acres this season, with 19 lifts taking you to the action. Six of the other resorts a short drive from Salt Lake City have over 2,000 acres of skiable terrain. Translation? In Utah you won’t be dodging crowds on the slopes.

And what about snow? Salt Lake City was selected for the 2002 Winter Olympics for good reason. Several resorts near Salt Lake average 500 inches of snowfall annually. The others average between 350-400 inches. Utah Ski Resorts are positioned near the peaks of the Wasatch Mountain range. Snowbird resort’s peak elevation is 11,000 ft., and several others over 10,000. The average base elevation of all Utah Ski Resorts is over 7,500 ft. These locations and conditions are proven snow magnets.

What else do you need to know? The numbers say it all. But we can throw in another factor for good measure. At least three Utah ski resorts are recent award-winners. Ski Magazine has nominated Deer Valley the #1 Ski Resort in North America for the last four years. In 2008, Outside Magazine voted Snowbird and Alta #1 ski resort in North America. So don’t just take our word for it. Come and experience the numbers yourself.
