Description
This is one of the best backpacking trips in the park. It runs along pleasant perennial streams amidst heavy tree growth beneath towering cliffs. The trail starts along the Kolob Canyon Scenic Drive at the Lee Pass trailhead. It runs along Timber Creek and then navigates hills to La Verkin Creek at mile 3.5. At mile 6.5 the trail branches up a side canyon .6 miles to Kolob Arch. The 177 foot by 292 foot Kolob Arch vies with Landscape Arch in Arches National Park for world's largest designation. (Measurement methodologies differ.)
