Zion Park Scenic Byway
The Zion Park Scenic Byway traverses beautiful red rock scenery along the Virgin River from the town of Hurricane into Zion National Park. Shortly after entering the park, the road climbs steep switchbacks out of Zion Canyon through interesting slickrock formations and some long tunnels in the eastern portion of the park. The byway ends rather unexceptionally 12 miles east of the Park at Mt. Carmel Junction. The best portion is the 32 mile stretch between La Verkin and the eastern exit of Zion. You'll also definitely want to take the 6.5 mile main scenic drive through Zion Canyon that branches off the byway just inside the park. The route is 45 miles one-way, paved, and passable year round.
