Abajo Mountains - Hiking

There are numerous trails in the Abajos and nearby Elk Ridge. All offer pretty alpine mountain scenery. You'll find plenty of solitude, especially on the trails higher up within the range. The 1:100,000 Blanding Trails Illustrated topo map covers much of the range. Forest Service rangers at the Monticello office (435-587-2041) can provide additional information.
