Beaver Travel Information
Beaver is a pleasant small town along I-15 at the base of the Tushar
Mountains. It has a number of lodging options and casual dining
available. It is an easy traveler's stop for I-15 motorists and a
convenient base from which to explore the Tushar Mountains.
Beaver itself is probably most famous as the birthplace of two
historic greats: Philo T. Farnsworth, one of the inventors of the
television, and Butch Cassidy, the legendary Western outlaw. Beaver
is also a landmark town in another way, since it was the first Utah
town to be electrified. That original hydroelectric plant, built on
the Beaver River, still runs today.
The recreation in the immediate Beaver area may be less landmark,
but not to be overlooked. The Paiute Trail runs practically through
town and at 230 miles long, is a more than attractive week-long trip
for the enthusiastic offroader. Minersville Reservoir is a nearby
State Recreation Area beloved by boaters and fishermen alike. Further,
beyond the beautiful and very explorable Tushar Mountains and their
rocks and lakes, Beaver is only 77 miles from Zion National Park.
Beaver is also just 52 miles north of Cedar City
