Description
Silver Island Mountain National Back Country Byway follows a 54-mile loop through Utah's Great Basin Desert. It traverses the Silver Island Mountains.
As you drive, you'll see the Bonneville Salt Flats of the Great Salt Lake. At various places along the route, note the wagon ruts indented into the ground by pioneers. These ruts have remained for over 130 years.
