Starvation Reservoir is a large reservoir is set amidst low dry foothills. It features a campground with modern facilities, a sandy beach, boating, and year-round fishing.

Steinaker Reservoir and State Park is located in the dry foothills of the eastern Uintas about 6 miles north of Vernal. Some pinyon pine, juniper and cottonwoods grow along portions of the shore, but most of this large 750 acre reservoir is exposed.
